How Does IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Work
The light is absorbed either superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment or deeper by larger vessels and collagen. Dilated capillaries coagulate and pigmented lesions come up to the surface of the skin to slough off. New collagen fibers are laid down, giving the skin a renewed and more youthful appearance.
IPL treats the damaged superficial layer of the skin, while delivering thermal energy to deeper tissue. Clinical studies support a positive effect on collagen production, which helps firm and tighten the skin.
IPL is a broad spectrum of light that can simultaneously treat a wide range of skin conditions such as:
- Age spots
- Sun damage
Sun induced freckles
- Broken capillaries/Telangectasia (spider veins)
